About Us

Council One was established in 1882 and stayed at St Mary's Church on Hillhouse Ave. in New Haven for many years.

Locations for meetings were moved from time to time in and around the city as the council grew and grew. With more and more council members moving out into the suburbs and needing a car to get to meetings,  parking at St Mary's became a major concern.

St Mary's Church is located right inside the Yale University campus and the streets are nearly always full of parked cars. It was decided to move the Council to St Aedan's Church in the Westville section of New Haven for the extra parking available and easier access for more members.

Father McGivney's brother Joseph was also a Priest and he founded St Aedan's parish. The Council can still found meeting at St Aedan's every second and forth Wednesday each month.
